It’s a known fact to anyone that knows me… I have issues with sharks.. I grew up on long Island, New York in a village called Huntington which was just down the road from another village called Amityville (Yes it really exists!)
Anyway when I was about five, a certain Mr. Spielberg rolled in to to town and decided to film Jaws off the end of the island. That was bad enough with all the hollywood hype that goes with filming.. (a great white was actually spotted off the island etc..) but then for some reason unknown to me, my Mother decided to take us to the cinema a couple of years later to see our friend Jaws in all it’s oversized human chomping glory. That ruined me for life.
Everytime I go out sailing I hear the theme tune in my head (yes even in the uk) and have to remind myself that it’s a childhood issue and to get over it…. until I see something like this…

So with that in mind, it’s safe to say I mad the right call not going to the Worlds. Knowing my luck, I’d be the first casualty with a broken boat and end up drifting around for 1/2 an hour just waiting for the moment when I’m taken down forever to the murky depths…

Don’t worry, bull sharks prefer murky shallows. So don’t spend too long launching…….
I’m more worried about stepping on a razor fish. two bits of razor sharp shell poking up thru the mud!
