Checking through the carbon dna records, it looks like my boat is a boy. I noticed the Y-chromasome on the deck area which makes it different from all the other ninjas which are fully x chromasome.
While I am waiting for the foils and other bits to come through, I’ve been busy doing all the small jobs that needed doing. I’m really pleased with the clear carbon finish and I think I have nailed the process with the prodder.
It’s more labour intensive but very satisfying! Once I’ve figured out the mold making process, I think it should be relatively straightforward to achieve a full clear finish. Graham Eeles has very kindly offered to give me a mold making lesson next time I visit him. Just as well as I think I’ve used up all my Aardvark reward points!
The Y-plate and carbon blocks are for the control lines and it will allow them to run over the footstraps instead of underneath them as all the other Ninjas do. Maybe that’s the difference between boy and girl? Well now we know how to sex a boat!
I also incorporated little “wedges” in the y-block to raise the cheek blocks to the right angle to the cleats.
