The next generation of mothies are already here and making a name for themselves. I have the honour of knowing Javier and Jordi from Spain and seeing how their mature approach to life has put them years ahead of me. Jordi is already in the process of designing his first moth and Javier has set up his company “Snail Sails” to start designing and developing sails and all things cloth related. He’s also building his own version of the 2009 Ninja over in Spain.
He has also furnished me with a special edition cover for the new Ninjario which he built over the easter break alongside laying up his new hull.
With the cover enroute, I am waiting on various final components to come together. The foils and gantry should be here next week sometime followed by the blocks, rope and rigging which I am sourcing locally. Then finally it’s just the mast and boom to come from Aardspars.
I’ve also had the pleasure of speaking with Kevin Ellway (Ninja designer supremo) who has very kindly furnished me with all the figures for the foil setup so with any luck the launch should go smoothly.
So bit by bit my story is coming to an end. By next month this time the boat will be on the water and Ninjaville will be a story I can tell my grand children.
It’s great to see a fresh batch of faces entering the class and moving it forward and it’s also nice to be a part of the new movement.
