Simply superb!
We made a tentative launch in a whole world of messy sea with an underlying swell that was creating a boat munching shore dump at high tide. Winds were about 10 mph on launching but increased to around 20 by the time we came in which was awfully quick as Jonnie’s sail head decided to pop thus ending the session prematurely.
The sea was confusing but despite this the boat was able to ride high and most importantly, off the wind, the Hammerhead rudder didn’t ventilate. Where I was most worried was take off but it must be said, Mike was right… the Ninja main foil is such that it does most of the work really. The smaller rudder made no difference there. I guess this is born out by the fact that the ninja rudder is tiny.
Off wind I was able to foil gybe despite the confusing swell and chop thanks to the reduced lift at the back end. I am really looking forward to some open sea events next year!
So if anyone has a curly tipped rudder from Aardvark and they also have a new ninja main foil, I’d highly recommend they chop the rudder down.

If anyone would like to sell a curly-tipped rudder instead of cutting it up, please email me asap.
And how do the molds get passed around?
Nobody in what used to be called the “New World” has been doing this- its all frickin’ commercial. 8^(
I’ve got a curly tipped rudder I could sell – currently sitting on a boat that isn’t doing anything so might as well go to use…
