One lazy spanish student who shall remain nameless couldn’t be arsed to deliver the ninja molds back to Mike Cooke after making his ninja hull so he decided to dump them back with me as it was far less effort than the drive back to Bristol from Southampton.
This was fine really as it was kind of a karmic cycle thing going on….. Until Mike Cooke asked me to destroy the molds as he has made up a new set which means the set he was using are now available for hire which will make it easier for anyone to build the boats.
This was a really tough thing for me to do and I spent days ignoring what had to be done. Thankfully Sam Tozer is bringing his boat down to do some work on it which means I was then forced to clear out the garage in preparation. So today, the jigsaw came alive and I butchered the molds “texas chain saw style”
So now there will never be another ninjario! She is unique in that she has the original deeper freeboard but also has the new longer foredeck. Truly a one off….
Other news… It’s official… Graham Simmonds, Jason Russell and Mike Lennon are double hard bastards… I was at Hayling getting some new rigging made up to fit a southern spars mast (phat boy stiffy) to the boat, when I witnessed the three mad men, coming in off the water… bear in mind the air temp was around 2 degrees c. with windchill of minus something! I got frozen just thinking about it!
I realise now that they all had one thing in common… they are off to Oz in a couple of weeks for the worlds and were just reminding themselves of what they will be missing whilst they bask in 100 degrees of sunny goodness.
Thankfully the mast stump I got from Graham was the wrong size and needs to be trimmed down to fit so I had to cut short my outdoor freezing bimble session.
If anyone wants to build themselves a race winning Ninja, give Mike a shout at Aardvark HQ.
Next stop for me… the local tip.

Thanks Phil. Let me know how much tea you require to settle up…
It’s just sad, I could’ve found an alternative use of the mold, other than junk.
Hi Mike,
No worries. Tea is wasted on me I’m afraid! However, fresh ground coffee is another thing altogether… Cafetiere style!
Carl, there is still a Ninja mould available for rent. Just not that one.
